Exploring the Provincetown Print with Bill Evaul
The "Provincetown Print" or white-line, full-color woodcut is a relief printing process, utilizing one block only as the printing matrix. This workshop will provide participants with an in-depth exploration of the white-line print: from conceptualizing and creating a drawing, to wood carving, to paper selection, to printing the block, participants will be guided to create a series of unique and vibrant monoprints. An overview of the white-line’s genesis (developed in Provincetown in 1917) and historical context will be discussed. Participants are encouraged to bring photographs or sketches to use as a starting point for your prints. This workshop includes afternoon access to the print studio during non-class time. Exploring the Provincetown Print with Bill Evaul. Dates: August 18 - 22. Time: 9:30AM - 12:30PM. Fee: $300.00
