The Lillian Orlowsky and William Freed Museum School at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM) proudly announces April Art Adventures, a workshop for kids taking place during spring vacation. This series of classes provides a fun, supportive, and engaging environment for creativity. Work with a variety of media, inside the Museum School studios, PAAM’s galleries, and outside —utilizing each environment to inspire art-making. Activities and materials include: looking at and creating from art on display in PAAM’s galleries, drawing and painting, outdoor sketching, and collage.
April Art Adventures is taught by Cathy Skowron and runs Monday-Thursday, April 16-19, from 10-Noon for ages 6-12. Participants can register for single sessions or all four. For more information or to register call 508.487.1750 or go to paam.org
All materials are supplied, but participants are also encouraged to bring favorite materials/images/photographs they may want to work with, a snack and drink if they tend to get hungry, and clothes that they can get messy in!
ACTIVITIES:
Monday: Painting Out of Doors: Artists have celebrated Provincetown’s natural beauty by creating luminous images of the land and sea for over 100 years. You’ll draw and sketch in the open air around Provincetown. (This workshop will be held indoors if weather is inclement).
Tuesday: Drawing and Painting Animals: We’ll look at animal-inspired artwork from the PAAM collection and sketch from life. Bring pictures of animals (yours or images from the wild) if you have them.
Wednesday: Art as Inspiration: Create original works of art inspired by paintings, drawings, and sculptures displayed in PAAM’s galleries!
Thursday: Collage: Have fun cutting up materials and creating art in this collage session. Use old magazines, interesting paper, wood, found-objects, and anything else you can think of!
