Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM) is hosting an exhibition of the 2011-2012 Visual Arts Fellows from
Provincetown’s Fine Arts Work Center (FAWC). The works featured in this exhibition range from abstract oil paintings and drawings to site-specific installation, video, new media and project-based conceptual artworks that reflect the diversity of contemporary artistic practices today.
The exhibition at PAAM includes all of this 2011-2012 Visual Arts Fellows: Golnar Adili, Jarrod Beck, Nicholas des Cognets, Jonathan Ehrenberg, Candice Lin, Andy Ness, Jacolby Satterwhite, Jeannie Simms, Sarah Sohn, and Rob Swainston.
The Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown is a leading long-term residency program for emerging artists and writers and one of the most renowned. Each year the Work Center offers residencies – the gift of time and space – to twenty Fellows selected from over 1,000 applicants worldwide. From October to May, the Fellows receive living and studio space and a modest monthly stipend. The only thing we ask is in return is that they focus on their work while they are in residence. Fellows pursue their work independently in a diverse and supportive community of peers. Throughout the Fellowship they are invited to present their work to the community and meet with visiting artists and writers.
Provincetown Art Association and Museum was established in 1914 by a group of artists and townspeople to build a permanent collection of works by artists of outer Cape Cod, and to exhibit art that would allow for unification within the community. Through a comprehensive schedule of exhibitions of local and national significance and educational outreach,
Provincetown Art Association and Museum provides the public access to art, artists, and the creative process.
PAAM, located at 460 Commercial Street, Provincetown, is open (October – May) noon to 5pm, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, also open by appointment; (Memorial Day – September) 11 am – 8pm Monday – Thursday, 11am – 10pm Friday, 11am – 5pm Saturday and Sunday.
