Provincetown, MA: FilmArt@PAAM is screening “What a Way to Go!” (1964), a comedy about a woman who just wants love but ends up inheriting a gazillion dollars from four husbands who predecease her, on Thurs., Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, 460 Commercial St. The comedies of the early 1960s were often lavishly produced social satires, and “What a Way to Go!,” in which Shirley MacLaine is the muse of four self-obsessed husbands (Dick Van Dyke, Paul Newman, Robert Mitchum, and Gene Kelly), is no exception. In CinemaScope and with Edith Head costumes for MacLaine, this epic search for romance through men who are obsessed with success is a winking critique of sexual repression. Though ostensibly a fable about money being the root of all evil, it is actually ... >> Read this article

Provincetown Attractions, Tours and more ..
Gays, lesbians, straight, same sex couples raising families, old-school Portuguese families, day-trippers, European students looking for summer work ... there is something for everyone in Provincetown. The local art scene is alive and thriving. Starving artists flock to have their 5 minutes of fame or stay and thrive in ptowns eclectic scene.
Renowned international personalities Kate Clinton, Lea DeLaria, DJ Junior Vasquez, John Waters, Norman Mailer and beloved Tennessee Williams have all came, performed and fell in love with this place. Provincetown is a place of tolerance and acceptance, crazy wild in the summer and refreshingly quiet in the fall and winter. Even with other states allowing same sex marriage, Ptown, with its miles of beautiful sandy beaches, spectacular sunset and teeming gay and lesbian population remains one of the most romantic and popular destination for couples wishing to tie the knot. Every summer comes a surprise or two. Have you heard the latest rumor yet? Some say Madonna and Sarah Jessica Parker are in town, presumably to attend a much-speculated Marc Jacobs+Lorenzo Martone nuptial in Provincetown this weekend (June 8th, 2009). Star-gazing aside, Provincetown knows how to keep the mood hot and funky from kitsch shows on one end and artsy-fartsy scene on the other and everything else in between. With such talents as Ryan Landry, Kate Clinton, Lea DeLaria, Varla Jean Merman, Miss Richfield 1981 and numerous other highly talented performers, every night is a laugh-filled, outrageous, makes-you-think and twist-your-brains-out kind of happy time.
In the mood for some clubbing? Take your pick - Crown and Anchor's Paramount Club with its Beats of Summer, Hot Summer Nights and Vault Leather parties; the ever popular and always packed A-House with its legendary Friday themed parties and Pied Bar with its After Tea and After Dark parties happen. If dancing is not your thing but you'd like to mingle and have a drink or two, then head off to the A-House's Little Bar, Good Times Pub or the Governor Bradford. Did we say the Governor Bradford affords you a nice spot for people watching on Commercial St.? Take a break and enjoy a cold beer or join a drag karaoke. Then of course, Provincetown is known for its magnificent light which has made this tiny village an art mecca long before it has been a gay town or a summer tourist destination. This town, situated right on the edge of Cape Cod offers so many possibilities and endless room for imagination with openness and tolerance not seen in more conservative parts of Cape Cod. From the time Charles Hawthorne held classes at his house at Miller Hill until today when established and enduring schools and galleries like the Fine Arts Work Center and Provincetown Art Association Museum, numerous artists have come here to hone their craft and exhibit their works.
Heading out to Provincetown also means some serious sun bathing and exploring. Spread your blanket in one of the numerous public beaches in town - Race Point, next to the west end parking, near the harbor, at Herring Cove or hie off to Long Point if you want a less crowded spot. You can trek along the breakwater [not for the faint of heart or weak-kneed!] or choose the easy way and board one of Flyers' Long Point Shuttle and get there in 10 minutes.
